So I read some fucking awful article on the BBC Magazine asking why we aren't marketing Blackpool to foreign tourists an having lived in Blackpool, or close enough to smell the horrid stench of chavs and cheap hotdogs, for nearly twenty-something years of my life its time to throw down the gauntlet here and enter my expert opinion right here.
It's because Blackpool is a fucking shithole.
I'm sorry, there is no way to mask the truth here. Blackpool is
not somewhere to be proud of. It is not somewhere pleasant to show off
as the Best of Britain. It is a cesspool. It is a bed of scumbags and
work-shy deadbeats. It's a place you go for a dirty night out and need
three showers in the morning just to feel even remotely clean. It wants
levelling and rebuilding. Preferably without most of the reprobates that
currently call it their home.
That probably comes across slightly more vexatious than is intended but anyone who has spent any time living in Blackpool and dealing with the average donkey lasher on a daily basis knows exactly what I'm saying.
Take a walk from Central Pier towards South Shore off the beaten track and down the street and you'll see what I mean.
