EA Lied : Fucking EA have just ruined my Xmas Present
Look closely in the top right hand corner of the box cover to Rock Band and what does it say??
NTSC thats what. Every other cunting American game has the letters NTSC to symbolise it works on ANY NTSC console, not just American 360s. I own NTSC-J games that specifically work on my Japanese console and no other region clearly adding the J on the end, and likewise I have other games that have no regioning tag and surprise surprise they work on my friends PAL consoles. You would assume by logic, if a game was US specific, they would have to add NTSC U to the cover.
EA and the whole of North America apparently ignore the rules and thus, just royally fucked me on this one... NTSC apparently doesn't include every NTSC console!
Having eventually sold the Dust Gatherer (read: Wii) for a £20 profit after owning it for 11 months I stumped up around £130 for Rock Band. After a few days of bargain hunting I sniped a last minute Rock Band auction for $260 delivered to the UK. Given it'll still be over that here when it eventually does come out in March or beyond I figured it was a must for the Xmas pissup and owning an NTSC console surely EA weren't going to shaft me out of this one.
They were.
Opening the box, there it was. NTSC - clear as day. No NTSC-U that would be found to signify this wouldnt work on ALL NTSC consoles, else surely it's false advertising?!
And I should know better really... EA titles are never region free so why should Rock Band be any different. How could EA justify charging much more in Europe for the same games if it wasnt for region locking their titles? I mean all the advertising they aim at your specific region wouldn't make any sense then and they wouldn't make as much money.. and we wouldn't want that. Cunts.
So anyway... I set the whole lot up before popping in the game and now I'm seriously fucked off. I hated EA before but now I think they're a massive bunch of lying cunts. I have a guitar and a drum kit set up here that cant be used until at least December 17th, if it does come out then, and if isn't here before my week off over Xmas, I'm going on a Rockstar-esce Rock Band rampage... :|

I am extremely disappointed to find the game is not as advertised with regards to Region Locking. The gamebox clearly advertises Rock Band is NTSC, with the blurb on the back stating "for use only with systems of NTSC designation" which is clearly false advertising.
NTSC clearly includes the Japanese and Asian region of Xbox 360 console, and owning a Korean NTSC machine the game should play as specified my yourselves. Having imported the Special Edition on the back of your on box information, I am extremely disappointed to find my Rock Band does now not work on a most definately NTSC console.
I would like to trade my disc for an Asian release of this title ASAP if you are not prepared to address the wording issue and unlock the game somehow for all NTSC consoles. NTSC is NOT JUST a North American standard and is used throughout Asia. If you intend to region lock within North America only in the future, I might suggest a clearer policy like adding a "U", such as the NTSC "J" label I find on all my region locked games from Asia.

All is not lost, try this solution.
Directly to the right of the Madmole is a pulley mechanism that takes you to the next level above by pushing Down on it. Instead of pushing down, push the Left, Left, Left, Right, Right, Right, Up, Up, Up. Now press Start to pause the game and press B. You will be sent back to the main screen. When you can select between Sonic and Knuckles, hold B and press Start for a level select.
This should help.

....why the consoles are region free. Why do they have to this shit? If they dont want to release a game in a certain country then fair enough but why prevent you from being able to play it if you do want it - it so pathetic. Its something a 3 year old would do.

It can be region locked but like the PSP Sony have "stressed" that even EA shouldn't pull that shit. There was some talk of that stranglehold being region locked but I don't think it was in the end.
