Royal Mail + Broadband = Bad connection

If you haven't seen the adverts, the Royal Mail is now doing broadband. The thing is, if you sign up for it then you don't know what will happen, one day you might start up your computer and click on the browser, and then it won't work, it'll be on strike.

Your probably also thinking "The Royal Mail aren't even a technology company let alone a broadband company." That's right there not so how are they doing this, well, they have set up a deal with "BT" so just like 'their' life insurance, home insurance and god knows what else the Royal Mail now sell its not actually their's. Which means that you could get a better deal elsewhere.

This brings me onto the price, which is £21.95 for the "broadband and homephone", and, £15.95 for "broadband".

*Specs for broadband*
* Up to 8Mbps
* Modem included
* Free Setup
* 24 hour UK technical support
* 5GB monthly download limit
* Basic email and anti-virus

HomePhone is exactly the same but you get:
* Free calls to other Post Office® Homephone customers
* Free evening and weekend calls aswell
Notice the "To other Royal Mail customers" bit, thats just like the tesco home phone one where its also free to other service users, so thats crap because you can't call, well, anybody really.
And the "Free evening and weekend calls" even on BT they're, like, 1p a min, so whats the big fuss.

There's no big fuss about the price either, all broadband prices are like that now, so there's nothing special about this, except this:

"5GB monthly download limit"
...
5GB thats's nothing.
...
So that means it'll either not be used so it won't be around by christmas or it'll be kept afloat by old people thinking 5GB is enough.

^^ spelin

Anyone know how to uninstall the DictionaryBot?

Anyway, anything the twatish RM put their name to now is just fucked, so it's probably safe enough for them to offer this bullshit under license and cream a few meagre pennies off the top.
At least they know their staff won't fuck it up for them, leik.

£16 for 5Gb - Fuck off BT with your bullshit caps

Broadband in this country is a fucking joke at the best of times, without fuckholes like Royal Mail inflating an already bullshit market perpetuating BTs idiom that their service is great/fair/well priced. Their stranglehold on ADSL is sickening...

I first joined the realms of broadband 8 years ago, paying £25.99 a month for a 512kbit line; 12 months later I got a free upgrade to 1mbit and continued to pay £25.99 (and not even on Direct Bullshit either, with no charges for not being) for a very reliable, uncapped service. I moved to E7Even after finding they offered service at £240 for 2 years in 2003 and unlike many others, had a very stable and "fast" internet connection with them until their demise in 2006. The company who bought them out offered to continue the service, but bumped up the price in line with all the other scrotum resellers on the market.

Thanks to BT though, the "cheap" broadband market is dead. The rules have changed and now "providers" (read: resellers for BT) now have to compete on where they cap your service, maxing contention ratios at 50/1 or more, all fucking the hardcore of customers (i.e. the people who the fucking internet is intended for) for extra money because your "filling their pipes" so should be paying more for the line your leasing access to.

Fuck BT and fuck Royal Mail. Anyone stupid enough to choose a broadband provider with a bunch of lazy cunts on the verge of a corporate take over can fuck their own arseholes...
